Q: How much does a 1972 Gran Torino cost?
I like the car from the Clint Eastwood movie ‘Gran Torino’. Does anyone know how much the real car would cost?
A: Is this the exact same Gran Torino thats in starsky and hutch?
If so….then its VERY hard to get one for cheap.
Ive seen some 72’s on junkyards online….and a completely rusted 72 Gran Torino still STARTS at around $10,000….or so.
You MIGHT find a better deal……..
If you want an original or ground up restoration.
It’s going to Start in the $30,000 range….and can easily go up to $200,000 at auction…..or maybe even personal sale.
You can do what movie makers did in the movie Starsky and Hutch…
They bought a bunch of 70 or 71 REGULAR Ford Torino’s…which have nearly the exact same body style as the Gran Torino….then they swapped out the front Grilles, headlights and bumpers….added the Spoiler(wing) and wheels,etc…..
You could then drop in a 427 engine or other custom Crate motor.
(or you can simply hunt thru junkyard and find some other rare classic engine, get it rebuilt, then drop it in the Torino to make it have alittle more value.)

They ALSO did this for the movie The Dukes of Hazzard(2004), they went out and bought tons of 69-71 Dodge Chargers and converted them to the famous 71 Charger in Dukes of Hazzard.
(since they had to wreck alot of them anyways.)
Q: Is there anyone that can edit a picture of my 1972 Gran Torino Sport?
I would like it changed to a competition orange with wide black hood stripes and the plastic lines inside the scoop painted orange too. And smoke black Cragar wheels. Just make it look good for me. Here is a link for a picture of one like mine. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4e/1972_Ford_Gran_Torino_Sport_SportsRoof.jpg
A: try the tirerack.com
Q: I’m getting a 1972 Ford Gran Torino. How much would a good paint job cost me?
Do you recommend the car? How much will a good paint job cost me for the Ford Gran Torino?
A: Wow that a tough question! $500 for a quick job, or start at $5000 and up for a complete stripping, filling, sanding, replacement of rusted sheetmetal, paint, clearcoat, wet sanding, etc. Great car, hang onto it!
Q: Does anyone have an answer for me about the 1972 Gran Torino I have for sale?
A: Ford, it was made by ford and yes, it does have 8 cylinders. and the answer to the third question is 351 Cleveland.
Q: wiring diagram for a electric choke for a 1972 ford gran torino that has an in line 6 cylinder 240 motor?
1972 ford engine wiring diagrams
i tried running wire but the choke got really hot is there supposed to be a relay hooked up to it?
A: Might need to run a ballast resistor inline to that choke to drop the voltage down to 6 volts or around that, so it doesn’t get so hot, but the choke should stay powered on all the time the engine is running. The coil spring inside the choke is designed to heat up and hold the choke plate open, so it stays powered all the time.
Q: 1970 Chevelle vs 1972 Gran Torino?
This idiot at my school challenged me to a race at a drag strip near us. I have a 1970 Chevelle with a 454 in it, all else is just about stock, except for some newer tires. He has a 1972 Gran Torino with like a 450 something in it, with some newer tires aswell.
Which one would win after
100 Feet?
Eighth Mile?
Quarter Mile?
Mile?
A: Agreed. I know for sure something working in your favor is the torque. & beings it’s a Chevy….Should not even be sweating it. No matter what, BE SAFE. & make sure you find a race track. Don’t take the risk of hurting either car outside of a race track.
I prefer the 1/4 mile races. It really exposes the full power of the car. Honestly its great to see a couple younger kids having something outside of fart can ricers……..
Good Luck.
((O_o)) Email me the outcome? ((>_<))

Q: 1972 Ford Gran Torino?
I have a 1972 ford gran torino it’s been in my garage for a few years. It was my fathers who passed away, It has 56,ooo miles on it with a 351 cleveland engine. Does anyone know what the value might be??????
THANK YOU FOR THE ANSWERS. I KNOW THAT THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL MILES. I WAS WITH MY FATHER WHEN HE PURCHASED IT IN 1972. IT HAS BEEN IN THE GARAGE FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS NOT DROVE. WE STARTED IT ABOUT THREE YEARS AGO AND SHUT IT OFF SO I CANNOT GET IN STARTED AGAIN.THE BODY OF THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO RUST. ALSO THE INTERIOR. IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISION. I KNOW IT IS HAD TO BELIEVE ABOUT THE MILAGE, BUT I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT THEY OR ORIGINAL. DAD ALWAYS KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE OUT OF THE WEATHER. I PUT MOST OF THE MILES ON IT MYSELF. THE COLOR OF THE CAR IS DARK BLUE MATTLIC.
OH!I FORGET IT ALSO A TWO DOOR.
A: 90% of the value will depend on the condition of the vehicle. If it is in show condition, It may be worth $15,000 or more. If it is in restorable condition, it may have a $1500 value. If it has a lot of rust or damage, and will not run $150 may be a lot!
A couple of questions to consider when trying to determine the value:
Will the car start and run?
How sure are you that the mileage is correct on the vehicle? That year vehicle only had an odometer that went to 99,999.9 miles before it went back to zero and started again. You say it has been sitting in your garage for a few years. Assuming (and this is just a guess because you do not say) that the car was not driven for the last 10 years, 56,000 miles works out to a little over 2300 miles a year average, when the car was driven. This seems doubtful to me.
Do you have the original paperwork for the vehicle? Collectors love cars with all the records.

Q: des any one have a 1972 Ford Gran Torino for around 5,000$?
A: Just saw the movie did ya?
This isn’t a buy and sell web site (in fact posts like this are specifically forbidden), it’s for questions and answers. This is a want ad.
You won’t find one anywhere near as nice as Walt’s for 5K anyway.
Q: hi i have a 1972 ford gran torino and i was wondering if anybody knows a good site for parts?
A: not many parts out there for that model, check on e-bay or see if you can find a torino club website and they might help you with parts.
Q: how much does a 1972, 4-door gran torino cost? it has minor rust. somewhat of a restoration project. any idea?
it has some rust. under body rusted. 2 owners, first owner drove it, second owner stored it in a shed. still runs great. 302, V8 engine. automatic transmission. newly rebuilt carburetor.
A: Unless the rust is very minor and it has NO floor pan rust it might be worth $500 at best. If it has floor pan rust then it’s a parts car and not worth more than $250. In fact it might be worth more in parts than as a running car. That is unfortunate but true, I’ve had a 72 and loved it but they’re just are not worth much especially a 4-door. A 72 GT would be worth alot more but you still have to be careful, you don’t pay too much for them. Good Luck!!
