Q: ford torino?
are the ford torino and the ford gran torino the same car?

or are there a different model/make?

A: They are the same, just the Torino is the cheaper model and the Gran Torino is more upscale.Ford used the Gran Torino name from 72-76.Before that they were called Fairlane, Fairlane 500,Torino,Torino 500,Torino GT,Torino Cobra and Torino Brougham. And in 1970 the Falcon name was put on the cheapest Torino models available for that year only.In 1971 the Falcon name was dropped and the cheapest Torino’s became the Fairlane models.

Q: How much does a 1970 Ford Torino go for?
how much does a Ford Torino from about 1970 go for? within a 5 year radius, please. i would like the price of one that needs work, and the price of one that is ready for the road.

A: Need lots more info to be close on a price but here’s a stab at it, from 250-35,000.

Q: Was there another car that was similar to the 74 Ford Torino?
I’m looking to model the car that was made famous in the TV show Starsky and Hutch. I’d like to buy something that is in 1/43 – 1/50 scale. I don’t think I’ll be able to find the 74 Ford Torino, so I was wondering what else look very similar to it.

A: The mercury Montego and Cyclone (not the Comet, that was the sister car of the Maverick, while the Talladega was a version of the Torino, the car for which the asker is looking for look-alikes) and ford fairlane were similar cars. The Falcon had nothing to do with the Torino which was a much larger car.
A 1974 Torino was used in the S&H movie, but the tv series also used a 1976 model.

…or you can just order one of these:

edit-OK, I got it, the guy above is referring to the Australian Ford Falcon, not the American model. Yes, it does look similar to a Torino, so it is an option, though for realism you’d have to rebuild the interior of your model in order to relocate the driver to the left.

Q: how much is the shell of a 1969 ford torino GT (not fastback) worth?
I know someone trying to sell his ‘69 Ford Torino GT, he wanted to base the price off of the shell of the car. Any answers appreciated, thank you.
(and the shell being in great condition that is).

A: If it’s a complete rolling chassis and not dented up or rusted he might be able to get $2000 for it.

Q: Help with a c6 transmission crossmember mounting in a 69 ford torino?
I have a 69 ford torino gt fastback that has a 351W with a C6 tranny, I wanted to know if the hump on the crossmember is absolutly needed or if i can use a custom straight crossmember with no hump? Thank you for your time and answers

A: You can make any trans cross member that you wish as long as the drive shaft angle to the rear pinion is not changed too much. If the drive shaft angle changes too much you will have a problem going through U joints.

Q: Looking to find a toy model of a ford torino?
My son is looking for a 1968 ford torino model either plastic or diecast…..not a fastback or hatchback or grand torino or corba just a normal one but has a 390 in it. A first year Torino…he bought a real one and wants to have a replica

A: Google Revel AMT. They’ve made model kits forever. Or Monogram.

Q: I’m getting a 1972 Ford Gran Torino. How much would a good paint job cost me?
Do you recommend the car? How much will a good paint job cost me for the Ford Gran Torino?

A: Wow that a tough question! $500 for a quick job, or start at $5000 and up for a complete stripping, filling, sanding, replacement of rusted sheetmetal, paint, clearcoat, wet sanding, etc. Great car, hang onto it!

Q: does anyone owns a 1976 ford torino or know something about there fuel system?
351w. there are multiple pump type deals in the engine compartment, not sure which one is a fuel line for sure, but all the tubes are dry
is the pump electric or mechanical?

A: The fuel pump is on the drivers side front of the engine block mounted low on the block. The factory pump is mechanical and is driven by an eccentric on the front of the camshaft. There should be one 3/8″ rubber hose that feeds the fuel from the fuel tank to the fuel pump, there is a steel line that feeds fuel from the pump to the carburetor, and there could be a 5/16″ rubber hose connected to a steel line that returns unused fuel to the fuel tank. If you’re trying to determine if the fuel pump is working you will need to check the fuel pressure at the carburetor. It should be 5 to 7 psi, if it less than 5 psi check the vacuum on the inlet side (rubber hose from the fuel tank side), it should have at least 10″ of vacuum to adequately pull fuel from the tank. If the pump has good vacuum but still doesn’t pump fuel the problem could be bad fuel hoses at either the fule pump, or fuel tank, small cracks in the rubber hose can allow the system to “suck air” instead of fuel.
Hope this helps,
Sid

Q: where can I find rear trunk chrome moldings for a 1969 ford torino gt fastback?
I can not find the chrome trim that goes around the back of the car in dearborn classics or in Macs antique auto parts.

A: I’ve had many Torino’s and if I was looking for those parts I would first go to “yearone.com” for new parts and then try the “Fairlane Club of America” for either new or used parts. You can google the Fairlane Club and their web site should pop right up. Good Luck!!

Q: where can i find floorpans for a 1973 ford torino grandsport?
good old michigan winters and humidity has rusted out the 36 yr old floor in my car.. i can only seem to find floorpand up to a 1971 or beyond 1974. i’ve checked everywhere, help
ive tried jc whitney, they have my quarter panels….somebody out there must fabricate for folks like me! :(

A: Check Dearborn Classics they sells parts for Torinos and the floor pan for 1972 73 are the same and I’m thinking possibly 1974 75 might also fit. The cousin Mercury Montego is the same. Also try JC Whitney they have loads of metal parts.

Q: I was wondering can you put a 429 cobra jet into my 1970 ford torino gt?
And how much horses you think i’ll get out of it, i have a 351 C in it right now?

A: yes the 429 will bolt right in with new motor mounts for a 429, theres plenty of room in your engine bay and the 429 had 375 horse.

Q: wiring diagram for a electric choke for a 1972 ford gran torino that has an in line 6 cylinder 240 motor?
1972 ford engine wiring diagrams
i tried running wire but the choke got really hot is there supposed to be a relay hooked up to it?

A: Might need to run a ballast resistor inline to that choke to drop the voltage down to 6 volts or around that, so it doesn’t get so hot, but the choke should stay powered on all the time the engine is running. The coil spring inside the choke is designed to heat up and hold the choke plate open, so it stays powered all the time.

Q: Will a clutch pedal assembly from a 1970 ford torino fit in a 1970 mercury cougar?
changing over from a auto to a t-5 5 speed. using 70 torino pedal assembly going into auto drum brake ps car no pb

A: Yes as long as you have all the parts from the torino to include what bolts up to the motor and the body. The lower rod should have the
adjuster while you have it off unscrew it along with the lock nut wire brush the threads light coat of grease reinstall. If your top rod has ajustment do the same to it.Not sure on that model

Q: As American car companies are bringing back muscle cars, is Ford going to bringback the Torino?
Mustangs, Corvettes, Comaros, Challengers, and Chargers. As you notice Chevy and Dodge both have two 2010 models in production as the Mustang is holding its own for Ford. I want to know if Ford is planning on bringing back the Torino. By the way R.I.P. Pontiac, this country will forever miss the GTO.

A: The Taurus SHO is back for ‘10, but that’s probably it for Dearborn speedsters.
