Q: GRAN TORINO CLASSIC CAR?
hi i have plans on buying this gran torino…but ONLY if i can have the front end look like the GRAN TORINO SPORT. is it just botls and screws? or is it going to be major mechanic work?

so heres the front end of the car that im getting…. http://www.moviecars.it/images/auto/ford…

and heres what i want it to look like… http://www.flickr.com/photos/familygarci…

BOTH ARE 72-73

A: all bolt on if you can find them. I had a ‘72 GTS, and even though it was a good looking car, all I remember is how bad it handled.

Q: What’s your favorite scene from the movie “gran torino’?
I like the scene in the barber shop! That was classic and funny!

A: the part when the 3 black guys were harassing the girl, then Walt drives up all badass and calls them “Spooks”.

LOL

Q: how cheap can you get a Ford Gran Torino?
or a classic mustang, whioch would be cheaper?

A: The torino would be cheaper by quite a bit. If it’s running you might pay as little as a couple hundred bucks to take it off their hands. The classic mustang however… I’ll assume you mean from the 60’s that could cost you quite a bit of money as in several tens of thousands of dollars, and as much as a hundred grand if it’s in show condition.

Q: Is a 74′ Gran Torino a nice vehicle?
I am receiving a 1974 Ford Gran Torino from my Grandfather. It is a 4 door and it has been basically a showroom type car for many years. Its in unbelievable condition just because my grandfathers obsessive compulsiveness took very well care of the car. From what I understand its all original down to its 302 v8 engine. No scratches, dents, rust, ect.. Im starting to learn about classic cars and was wondering if this is a great car to own? Especially my first!!

Thanks

A: Sounds like you are receiving a great car,and already have a fantastic Grandfather.Since it is all original and runs great and excellent body,I don’t see why you can’t cruise the block every Sat.night and be very proud of your car and Grandfather.

Q: How much does it cost to reupholster a classic car interior?
The car is a 1974 Gran Torino. The current interior is in great shape, but it’s blue, and that’s got to go. So I will change it to black, how much does that cost to do?

A: All depends on where you go, what fabric you use and how much detail you want. There’s some really nice interiors out there, also some pretty basic/plain and downright butt-ugly ones. Upholstery work is usually pretty pricey either way.

Q: What movies have you seen at the theatre?
I saw Gran Torino twice..classic Clint Eastwood.
The Watchmen; took a while to figure out what the hell was goin’ on. Good movie but the big blue guy really needed to wear boxer shorts!
Monsters 3D was a bit boring in the beginning, but really liked the insectosaurus monster.

A: So far this year I’ve seen Madagascar 2,
& Aliens Vs Monsters.

When I saw the trailer for Monsters I thought it was a bit meh,
but the movie turned out to be better than expected.
Got some laughs out of it, and B.O.B. was my favourite.

Q: Have you seen gran torino ?
What a great movie its an instant classic.Clint eastwood has just got better and better with age.The movie has a powerfull message and i really really enjoyed it.I hope clint is a round for many more years so he can make more brilliant movies like this.

A: i havent seen it but i will go and get a copy of it. I like clint eastwood myself my favourite film is mystic river with sean penn wow what a powerful fillm to watch. Im currantly at home now watching paint your wagon. Im going to burst into song anytime soon now

Q: i need web sites and companies to buy parts for older classic vehicles?
right now specifically a 48 international pick up near future gran torino. i have been looking for several years for someplace to get parts preferably original for the 48 but haven’t had any luck i know there’s places out there. thanks

A: That is going to be a tough road… There were not a lot of IH’s built.

Your best wide area source is likely to be eBay. Even if you don’t win a part, you may be able to open up a dialogue with someone else that has the same vehicle and learn a good source or acceptable alternate part.

good luck…..

.

Q: What’s the best muscle car for a beginner in muscle cars?
I would love to start off with the hardcore classic muscle cars, but I do no have any experience,or info, on owning (let alone driving) a muscle car.

Camaro
Chevelle
Torino
Gran Torino
Pontiac GT
Pontiac Firebird etc.

A: I’ll just add to everyone’s excellent answers…

I’d look for an early-model third generation Firebird or Camaro (early 80s to early 90s). Very easy to work on, VERY easy to find parts for, and there are tons of online forums to help with any issues you might have. If you need parts quickly, I guarantee you that any pick-n-pull yard will have at least 10 of them sitting out in the yard to choose from.

Also, you can find a decent example for about $2500. This will get you a straight body, decent interior, decent engine (probably tired, but can be refurb’d), etc.

Q: Classic 70’s tubeage: “Rockford Files” or “Starsky and Hutch”?
What about their cars (Pontiac Firebird vs. ‘75 Ford Gran Torino)? Anyway, who can forget the Rockford Files theme by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter? I even have it on a disc. Enough ramblin’… What do y’all think? Thanks, answer carefully and c’ya on the otha side. Until then…

A: Well, I was a kid in the 70’s and watched those cops shows with my dad every week…my dad was a Chevy man, so I’d have to choose the Firebird (my older sister actually had a gold one)…but I thought that Hutch was a cutie….I have since gotten over him….but remain in love with James Garner…he is one class act….I know, he did a commercial for a foreign car, but he also was the American Beef Council spokesman…which basically means he sold us a line of bull….but I love him still!

Q: Is Clint Eastwood still a badass?
The Man With No Name is pushing 80 and his latest movie, “Gran Torino”, looks like classic Eastwood tough. What do you think?

A: yes, even though he looks like a 90 year old in this movie, hes still a freaking badasss

Q: First date with a 28 yr old- How can I impress him ?
I finally found a guy who I can connect with, have endless conversations and someone who seems to know what I go through. I am going to be 21 in june and third year of university. Its been 2 weeks since I met him and I had some of the best one on one conversations with him. We finally agreed on our first date this monday after valentines. Problem is that I am nervous. I never dated a guy beyond 24 and its been almost a year since I left myt previous relationship. I know his likes and dislikes, music, etc….he is a working buisness man, dress formal, and Im just like any other university student..casual..what should I wear ? . We picked a classic gill restaurant ( moxies) and a movie later on…should we see gran torino or new in town ( comedy – i prefer this ) ….Im so confuzed with how should I go about this. I told him Im lil nervous and he said everything will be fine…someone give me some tips…..

A: Since you have been having long conversations … sounds like he likes the real you. Don’t worry about how to act. Be yourself.

A lot of older guys go for younger women because they want sex and younger women expect less in a relationship. This DOESN’T sound like its the case here.

He will probably expect you to be past the party stage, if you ever were in that. He might like to go out and have fun, but not the non-stop kegfest that some guys n girls enjoy in college.

Have fun and dont’ get so caught up in your own mind that you don’t enjoy your date!
